Terms of use
politehr.me writes draft rejection letters. These terms cover what you can expect from it, what it costs, and what happens when money changes hands — including the parts that are not in your favour, which are the ones worth reading.
What politehr.me is
It takes a CV, a job posting and a tone, and writes a draft. That is all it is: a drafting tool. You read what came out, you decide whether to send it, and once you send it, it is your message and your responsibility.
The service is in alpha and is provided as-is. It has bugs nobody has found yet, and it changes without much warning.
Who may use it
You need to be at least 16. An account is a Google sign-in and belongs to one person — do not share a login, and do not use somebody else’s. You can use the free daily allowance without an account at all.
What you may not do
Do not use it to harass anyone, to make a hiring decision on its behalf, or to process data you have no right to process. Automated abuse, reselling access, and attempts to extract the underlying prompts are all grounds for cutting off access, with or without a warning.
Candidate data is yours to be careful with
You choose what to paste. You need a lawful basis for handling that candidate’s data, and we handle it only to produce the letter you asked for, on your instruction and for nothing else. Our side of that bargain is the redaction described in the privacy notice; your side is not pasting anything you should not have.
The free allowance
Everyone gets a number of free requests each day. The day is a UTC day, the count resets at its edge, and whatever is unspent at the edge is gone rather than carried over. The size of the allowance is a number we may change.
Buying requests
You can buy packs of requests in advance. There is no subscription, nothing renews, nothing turns into a plan, and no card details are held by us — the payment is taken by Paddle, who are the seller of record for the transaction. The price shown is before any tax Paddle has to add in your country.
A purchased request buys exactly one thing: one more letter. Same model, same queue, same prompt as a free one. It does not buy priority, a badge, or a better draft.
Delivery, and the 14-day withdrawal right
Requests are credited as soon as the payment is confirmed, which is usually seconds. Because you are asking for delivery to begin immediately, you agree that it does, and you acknowledge that you lose the 14-day right of withdrawal for requests once they have been credited. Nothing here removes a statutory right you have where you live.
Expiry, and deleting your account
Purchased requests expire one year after the day you buy them. Expired requests are not refunded, not extended and not transferable, and the same goes for an unspent balance when you delete your account: deleting it removes everything we hold about you, balance included, immediately and permanently.
Refunds
You can ask us or Paddle for a refund, and we would rather you asked. If a purchase is refunded, the whole pack is revoked — including any requests already used — because a pack is one indivisible thing, and pro-rating a partly spent one is a negotiation rather than an arithmetic. This does not affect a refund you are entitled to by law.
Chargebacks and a negative balance
If money is reversed after the requests were delivered — a chargeback, or a refund raised with your bank — the whole pack is revoked, including the part already spent. That can take a balance below zero, and it is the only thing that can. While it is negative the free daily allowance is not granted, every request is refused, and there is no timer to wait out: buying any pack is what clears it, and a debt does not expire.
The other half of that bargain: if a reversal is decided in your favour, or your bank undoes it, the pack is restored exactly as it was, spent requests included. And if something has gone wrong with a purchase, write to [email protected] before you call your bank. We can fix a mistake; a bank can only reverse it.
Availability, suspension and the end of the alpha
We may change, suspend or withdraw the service, and abuse can cost you access to it. If we shut it down for good, threads go with it and we refund whatever unspent balance you are holding — that failure would be ours, not yours.
No warranty, and what we are liable for
The text is generated. It is not legal advice, it is not guaranteed accurate, and it is not guaranteed to be tactful about a particular person — read it before you send it. So far as the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
We update this page when the terms change, and date it. Carrying on using the service afterwards is how the new version is accepted. A change that would make a balance you have already bought worse does not apply to it.
